Pakistan’s Mission to Eliminate Hepatitis C by 2030

Islamabad: The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and partner organizations, organized a key event focused on Hepatitis C elimination in Pakistan. The ceremony was chaired by Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal, highlighting the government’s strong commitment to eradicating this global health challenge.

National Hepatitis C Elimination Program

Under the Prime Minister’s National Hepatitis C Elimination Program, the government is taking urgent and comprehensive measures to combat the disease.
The program’s primary goal is to screen over 165 million people by 2030 and provide free treatment to all positive cases.

During the event, Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal emphasized:

  • “Hepatitis C is one of the major global public health challenges.”

  • “The Government of Pakistan is fully committed to preventing and eliminating this disease.”

  • “This is not just an occasion but a mission and a pledge to protect our people.”

Mass Screening and Free Treatment

The government’s top priority is to prevent illness before it happens and save human lives. The Minister highlighted that large-scale screenings, early diagnosis, and effective free treatment are key to strengthening Pakistan’s healthcare system.

He added:
“When it comes to public health, we must do today what we should have done yesterday. No effort will be spared to save lives.”

Pakistan’s Goal: Hepatitis C-Free Nation by 2030

With the support of WHO and international partners, Pakistan is moving towards a future where Hepatitis C can be eliminated through awareness, early detection, and nationwide free treatment programs.
