Health Minister Mustafa Kamal Chairs Key Meeting on Drug Regulatory Framework and Pharmaceutical Exports
Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal chaired a high-level meeting of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) in Islamabad.
The meeting was attended by the CEO of DRAP, the Additional Secretary of Health, and other senior officials. Key discussions focused on the API Policy, the Naphtha Cracker Project, and reforms in drug pricing mechanisms.
During the briefing, Minister Kamal emphasized the need for a comprehensive report on the Naphtha Cracker Project, which is crucial for advancing local raw material production for the pharmaceutical sector.
He was also briefed on the current pricing system for medicines and its correlation with the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The Health Minister directed officials to develop a detailed report analyzing the impact of inflation on medicine prices.
“Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry has immense export potential,” stated Mustafa Kamal.
“The government is fully committed to increasing pharmaceutical exports and will introduce a clear, effective policy to achieve this.”
The meeting concluded with a directive to formulate a comprehensive and forward-looking strategy to enhance medicine exports from Pakistan and stabilize local pricing for the public.
