MQM Pakistan Members of National Assembly Urge Federal Government to Reconsider Petroleum Price Increase

Karachi, July 17, 2025 — Members of the National Assembly from Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan have expressed deep concern regarding the federal government’s recent decision to raise petroleum product prices. They highlighted that this increase will further burden an already inflation-affected population.

The MNAs emphasized that the government must formulate policies that achieve economic goals while minimizing hardship on the general public. They warned that the middle-class, especially those dependent on daily wages and salaried jobs, will be the hardest hit by this decision.

Addressing the issue, MQM Pakistan MNAs urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to reconsider the price hike and ensure that maximum relief is extended to the citizens facing rising costs of living.

This announcement comes amid widespread inflationary pressures affecting essential commodities across Pakistan. The petroleum price surge is expected to impact transportation, fuel costs, and consequently, prices of daily goods, further aggravating the economic challenges for the common people.

MQM Pakistan continues to advocate for balanced policies that protect the interests of the middle and lower-middle-class communities and seeks dialogue with the government to address these pressing concerns.
